I am a Pittsburgh native and proudly bleed black and gold and will gladly talk Steelers football with anyone who asks. After growing up as the oldest of 4 kids in a church-planting family in Colorado Springs and later the Big Island of Hawaii, I attended the University of Hawaii at Hilo, where I studied Economics and Communications, served in several campus ministries, including Athletes in Action and FCA. I met my wife Brooke, who also serves here at Watermark, when we served together in a summer sports ministry. We got married on a coffee farm in Hawaii in 2021 and then moved to Texas in 2022 to go to Dallas Theological Seminary for the Master of Theology degree and to pursue my call to pastoral ministry. I was working as a transportation public policy consultant for the last few years as I finished up my ThM and served here at Watermark. I love talking about politics, history, sports, and theology, and love me some good chicken parm.
I would say I never knew a day when I did not know the Lord, but it became very real for me when I was 15, dealing with suicidal thoughts in isolation after some traumatic events in childhood led me to depression, hopelessness, and addiction. My life meant nothing until the Lord revealed himself to me personally through the book of Romans, in an adult Sunday school class taught by an art teacher. Jesus died for me so that I could live with him and for him. My calling toward pastoral ministry happened at the same time in Isaiah 6, where Isaiah comes into the holy presence of God and utters, “Here I am; send me.” This was intensified and clarified with the passing of my Grandpa at 16, who was a pastor, and his favorite verse was 1 Peter 1:24-25, which talks about how the only thing that lasts in this world is the Gospel, and he lived that way with conviction. I am passionate about walking with Jesus intimately, living in his presence daily, and helping others discover this joy for themselves. I also have a deep passion for healthy pastors, healthy churches, and church planting. I am thrilled to walk with our single adults here at Watermark in Gather as the Lord has opened this door to serve with this amazing group of believers!
